Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern
What is your main goal when working with a client?
My goal is to provide a safe place for individuals to express their deepest innermost thoughts and
feelings and provide them with tools to help them manage life’s challenges.
What is your approach and what methods do you employ?
Using a narrative approach and cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), my mission is to help others
foster self-awareness and gain insight into their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors so they can
move effectively through their struggles and achieve mental wellness. Furthermore, due to the
intimate connection between our present and our past, I use a psychodynamic approach.
Psychodynamic therapy enables individuals to gain insight into how their environment has
affected them in order to reshape their present and future directions. I also provide therapy that
aims to heal trauma so clients can move forward in their lives with hope and purpose.
What age groups do you most often work with?
I work with adults, adolescence, and children aged six and up.
What is your background and what are your credentials?
I studied at Palm Beach Atlantic University, a Christian-based institution. I also volunteered for
13 years as a lay counselor, supporting my development of counseling and individual session
abilities.
What is the reason you decided to get into counseling?
Overcoming sexual abuse, the suicide of a sibling, a blended family, and the loss of a spouse has
given me the desire to help everyone heal and reach their full potential. It has also given me the
ability to connect and labor alongside the hurting.
Tell us about your education.
I pursued my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in
Crisis & Trauma at Palm Beach Atlantic University.
